Browns Gibbons Land & Company (BGL) announced this week that it has sold Fielding Environmental (Fielding), a fully integrated environmental solutions provider, to GFL Environmental Inc. (GFL). With this acquisition, GFL, the fourth-largest diversified environmental services company in North America, expands its footprint and positions itself as a powerhouse in the industry.

Fielding Environmental, headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, stands out as a leading environmental solutions provider with a focus on liquid waste and gas processing, recycling, and disposal. What sets Fielding apart is its Cradle to Cradle® waste management approach, epitomizing closed-loop environmental solutions that align seamlessly with the principles of the circular economy. The company's infrastructure and permit portfolio serve as a foundation for providing comprehensive, single-source solutions to a diverse clientele spanning environmental, chemical, manufacturing, and hazardous and non-hazardous waste generators.

GFL Environmental, based in Vaughan, Ontario, has established itself as a key player in North American environmental services, offering a comprehensive suite of solid waste management, liquid waste management, and soil remediation services. The acquisition of Fielding adds highly complementary, specialized processing capabilities to GFL's already robust portfolio. Additionally, the inclusion of Fielding's Part B (hazardous waste) permit opens new avenues for growth and expansion.

Fielding's strategic location in the greater Toronto area emerges as a key catalyst for GFL's prospective growth, enhancing the company's ability to serve a wider geographic and industrial spectrum.

GFL's existing Environmental Services network stands to benefit significantly from Fielding's specialized capabilities that will drive material internalization and organic cross-selling growth opportunities. The collaboration between GFL and Fielding represents a strategic alignment of values and capabilities. By integrating Fielding's innovative solutions into its portfolio, GFL is poised to offer an even more comprehensive suite of services to its clients. The acquisition not only enhances GFL's market position but also reinforces its commitment to sustainable and responsible environmental practices.

Although specific terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, BGL's Environmental Infrastructure and Services investment banking team played a pivotal role as the exclusive financial advisor to Fielding throughout the acquisition process.

As the environmental services industry continues to evolve, GFL Environmental Inc.'s acquisition of Fielding Environmental marks a strategic milestone, positioning the company for sustained growth and leadership in providing integrated environmental solutions across North America.
