Washington-based environmental advocacy group Greenpeace has published the second edition of its Guide to Greener Electronics, a report card ranking top electronics manufacturers based on their recycling policies and use of hazardous chemicals. Nokia and Dell earn praise at the top the list, while Apple trails far behind the pack, accused of failing to phase out several toxic chemicals in its devices and lackluster implementation of its product take back program.
Greenpeace established the guide in August and says it intends to update the ranking every three months. The full guide can be found at www.greenpeace.org/usa/news/electronics-companies.
