Houston City Council Delays Vote on Recycling Contract

The Houston City Council has delayed a vote on a proposed $48 million, 20-year recycling contract with FCC Environmental. This action follows Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s recent decision to turn down EcoHub’s One Bin project, despite the fact that Houston was poised to become the pilot city for EcoHub.
City Council members are questioning the length and price of the contract since it has changed numerous times over the past couple of months.
The proposal will be discussed again in the City Council’s meeting next week.

Questions about a proposed $48 million recycling plan, set to be approved Wednesday morning by the Houston City Council, remain unanswered after an hours-long committee hearing Tuesday.
The proposal, that's been bogged down in questions from its initial release in June, now has more confusion surrounding how the city selected Fomento De Construcciones Y Contratas for the deal.
"I think we need to throw this out and start over," councilman Greg Travis said.
