Labrie Equipment Ltd., Quebec, Canada, announced that it has finalized its purchase of the Leach refuse truck product lines from Federal Signal Corporation, University Park, Ill. Press reports have pegged the purchase price at $10 million.

Labrie will gain control of the assets, which include related intellectual properties and some inventories and equipment, on Aug. 1. The agreement also includes the parts business, which Labrie will acquire on Jan. 1, 2007.

The company, which designs and manufactures waste management equipment, said in a press release that the purchase will allow it to gain a larger part of the rear and front loader market, with production of those vehicles scheduled to begin during the last quarter of 2006.“ [The purchase] positions Labrie as a top tier North American leader in waste management equipment,” said President Claude Bovin.
