Machinex Technologies, Inc. installed a new single stream materials recovery facility (MRF) for the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority (SOCRRA) that has been fully operational since January 2018. The facility is located in Troy, Mich., and materials are coming from several municipalities in the surrounding area.

‘’This project has been an exciting challenge for Machinex since it was the first, complete turnkey project, including the building expansion, that we were managing, said Chris Hawn, CEO of Machinex, in a statement. “We are extremely pleased with the workflow throughout the project’s preparation, which has been a success thanks to the excellent collaboration we have had from Cambridge, Leadpoint and SOCRRA."

The new system has a capacity of 30,000 tons per year, double the dual stream system that was in place before. The facility includes sorting technologies such as a two-deck MACH OCC screen, a MACH One ONP screen, a MACH Ballistic separator and a Machinex Eddy Current separator.

"SOCRRA has been extremely happy with our new MRF. Machinex and Cambridge were very professional partners throughout the process of designing, building and operating [of] our MRF,” said Jeff McKeen, general manager at SOCRRA, in a statement. “While the MRF was being built, we sent our senior operating manager of employees and mechanics to the Machinex main office in Quebec to receive training on how to operate and maintain the MRF. That training was invaluable as we started up our MRF. Machinex also had a startup team onsite for our initial operations.”
