Montgomery County Resource Recovery Facility in Montgomery County, Md., went up into flames last Thursday, producing a massive amount of smoke. The fire consisted of an 85-foot tower of trash that continued to burn through the weekend.
This fire has delayed waste deliveries from commercial haulers and individuals until Wednesday, December 14.

Hundreds of firefighters have been battling a trash fire inside Montgomery County’s incinerator plant since Thursday, and the smoldering blaze in a giant storage pit will continue to emit smoke and disrupt some nonresidential waste deliveries for days, fire officials said Sunday.
County Fire and Rescue Service units met an 85-foot tower of trash ablaze at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday inside the Montgomery County Resource Recovery Facility, about two miles southwest of Dickerson, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said in a recorded statement Sunday.
