Office Depot Launches Nationwide E-Waste Recycling Service
October 17, 2007
Office Depot, Delray Beach, Fla., has launched its “Tech Recycling Service” at all of the company’s retail store locations in North America. The service is an expansion of a pilot program at nearly 100 stores, which was started in 2006 and resulted in recycling more than 108,000 pounds of e-waste.
To participate, customers must buy appropriately sized recycling boxes from one of the company’s retail locations, fill it with acceptable technology ranging from cameras to monitors, televisions and computers, and return the boxes to the store. The boxes cost $5, $10 and $15, which includes shipping and handling. According to a press release, Chuck Rubin, president of North American retail for Office Depot, said he is confident that the new service will bring value and innovation to the company’s customers.
Office Depot has more than 1,100 retail stores in North America.
