Houston-based WCA Waste Corp. has completed two tuck-in acquisitions. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The firm has purchased Fort Myers, Fla.-based Southwest Dumpster Inc., which owns nine collection routes and generates roughly $4.2 million in annual revenue.

The garbage collected on Southwest's routes will be brought to one of two landfills that WCA owns in Florida. The purchase represents WCA's entry into the Fort Myers collection market. The firm also owns a transfer station in the market.

WCA also purchased Springfield, Mo.-based Sunrise Disposal, which operates six collection routes servicing about 7,300 customers. Sunrise generates roughly $1.3 million in annual revenue. Waste collected on the Sunrise routes will be brought to WCA's Black Oak Landfill.

“Our previously announced capital plan allows WCA to continue with its growth strategy of acquiring tuck-in collection operations and pursuing new market opportunities,” said Tom Fatjo, chairman and CEO of WCA, in a press release.

In other news, Raleigh, N.C.-based Waste Industries has acquired Jimmy Tibbitts Enterprises LLC, Dallas, Ga., and Double Springs Sanitation Inc., Greenville County, S.C. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed, although Waste Industries estimates that the deals will add a total of $4.5 million in annual revenues.

“These two acquisitions reflect our continued desire to strengthen our routes in desired markets and where possible to internalize greater volumes of waste collected into our landfills,” said Waste Industries CEO Jim Perry in a press release.
