Russia’s President Orders the People’s Front to Control Recycling Issue

Russia produces approximately 5.4 to 5.6 billion tons of trash a year. Of that total, half is recycled and half gets stored in the ground.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has taken action to correct this problem and has ordered the People’s Front to control the recycling issue. He has also noted three variants to settle the recycling issue: waste producers could have their own plants, companies could jointly hire an operator and the government could be responsible for plant construction.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin is concerned about quantities of non-recycling waste and ordered to the People's Front to control this issue.
"Waste is a problem; we produce about 5.4-5.6 billion tons a year, and only half is recycled, and the other half is stored in ground," he said during an annual televised Q&A session on Thursday.
Putin said the sphere of waste recycling "is very criminalized," and thus ordered to the People's Front to control the situation with recycling.
