Not yet tall enough to throw her recyclables away, a student from Anderson Elementary School in Sand Springs, Okla., gets a boost from Todd Green, general manager of the American Environmental Landfill. Through a recently forged partnership, the landfill is providing local schools with facility tours, on-site recycling containers and matching funds for money earned from recycling.

The landfill also has agreed to remove a lagoon off of the Anderson Elementary property that previously stored the school's waste and sewage. The lagoon will be replaced by a full-service septic tank. “Anderson Elementary School is our neighbor, and good neighbors watch out for each other,” Green says.
