For three days, waste industry professionals finished out the summer by gathering in Charlotte, N.C., for the Solid Waste Association of North America's 44th annual WASTECON conference and trade show. In addition to barbecue, attendees took advantage of the more than 50,000-square-foot show floor, technical sessions, training courses, workshops, speakers and networking events. More than 1,000 people attended the Wednesday night gathering at the Lowes Motor Speedway.

According to SWANA, the event drew approximately 3,500 registrants, 20 percent more than last year. The show also boasted 225 exhibits and 45 first-time exhibitors. John Skinner, executive director and CEO for SWANA, called this year's show “a great success for everyone who attended.”

WASTECON 2007 will be held in Reno, Nev., Oct. 16-18. For more information, visit www.swana.org.
