#10 - The Responsible Recycling Alliance Shares Insights to Enhance Plastic Recycling in California
The Responsible Recycling Alliance (RRA), a coalition of three prominent California recyclers and manufacturers – EFS Plastics, Merlin Plastics, and PreZero US which was formed to help California reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic waste across the state through effective education and legislation – today shared an insightful interview with Roxanne Spiekerman, Vice President of Public Affairs for PreZero US, and spokesperson for the RRA.
#9 - August 2024 Fire Report: July was the Worst Month Ever for Reported Fires!
In July, the industry experienced 48 fires, 25 of which occurred in waste, paper and plastic operations, 16 in metal operations, four in organics operations, one at a rubber operation, one at an electronic recycler and one at a construction and demolition operation. Twelve of these events were considered catastrophic.
#8 - Will California Meet its 2030 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target?
California needs to significantly accelerate its greenhouse gas emissions reductions to meet its 2030 climate goals, as current efforts are insufficient according to a report by Next 10 and Beacon Economics. Despite progress in some areas, such as renewable energy and clean transportation, emissions have recently risen, and the state faces substantial challenges in decarbonizing key sectors like electricity and transportation.

#6 - WM Invests $56M in Alabama RNG Facility, Construction to Begin this Year
WM is moving forward with its plan to build a new renewable gas facility in Lee County, Alabama following a unanimous vote on a tax reduction. The facility will be the first of its kind for the state and will begin construction in November of this year.
