Progressive Waste, Partners to Open Texas Landfill Gas-to-Energy Plant

Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. and two partners are opening a landfill gas-to-energy plant in Alvarado, Texas.
The Vaughan, Ontario-based Progressive developed the facility with Morrow Renewables LLC of Midland, Texas, and the Washington-based U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Landfill Methane Outreach Program. The high Btu processing operation at Progressive Waste’s Turkey Creek Landfill in Alvarado is expected to capture 1,300 standard cubic feet per minute of gas, according to an EPA news releaase.
