Medical Waste Spilled Onto Streets of Northampton

Medical waste, including bloody gauze, rubber gloves, and hospital gowns spilled onto multiple Northampton roadways early Wednesday morning, following a pickup at a nearby hospital, police say.

Northampton Police Capt. Jody Kasper says that the waste, which was found on Route 5, Main Street, and Bridge Street, has since been cleaned up.

Kasper told 22News that around 12:15 A.M., officers received a report of trash in the roadway in the area of Mt. Tom Road (Route 5). Kasper says police found trash in the roadway in the area of the dike, and more trash about a quarter of a mile away near Atwood Drive.
