Onyx Closes Three Midwest Acquisitions

Onyx Waste Services, Milwaukee, Wis., has closed on three waste hauler acquisitions, marking the company’s largest series of acquisitions in the past six months. The largest acquisition was Vasko Disposal Systems, St. Paul, Minn., which includes industrial and commercial waste haulers Vasko Solid Waste and Vasko Rubbish Removal. The purchase included a transfer station, an office building, a recycling center and all hauling and collection operations.
Onyx also acquired the assets of Macon, Mo.-based Salt River Refuse Co. and selected residential waste collection routes from H.D.W Enterprises in Bethany, Mo. Both acquisitions will feed into Onyx's Maple Hill Landfill in Macon.
