Red River Waste Buys Two Iowa Waste, Recycling Haulers
Red River Waste Solutions LP has acquired two waste and recycling haulers in Glenwood, Iowa–Steve Konfrst Trash Service and Mel Konfrst Trash Service–for an undisclosed amount.
The Dripping Springs, Texas-based Red River Waste said the father and son family haulers provide residential, commercial and industrial waste collection for southwest Iowa, according to a news release.
The acquisition is a tuck-in for Red River’s existing operation in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Red River has provided residential waste, yard waste and recycling collection for that city.
“We are very familiar with the Glenwood area, and we are excited to add these new customers to our Iowa service area,” the company said in its statement.
Red River has been bolstering its Council Bluffs operation. Last October it added its first compressed natural gas (CNG) truck to its waste collection fleet there, and plans to add nine more trucks by 2016.
Meanwhile, acquisitions in the waste and recycling industry–at least the tuck-in variety–have continued steadily. Ponte Vedra-based Advanced Disposal in May bought Sturgeon Bay, Wis.-based waste hauler Little Hoppers, and in April purchased Beloit, Wis.-based waste and recycling hauler Rock Disposal Inc. And in March Area Disposal Service Inc. acquired Captain Hook Inc., a fellow Peoria, Ill.-based waste roll-off container business.
In her March column for Waste360 Business Insights, industry financial analyst Leone Young said the industry expected an active year in mergers and acquisitions.
