Montreal, Canada public markets are making moves to get vendors and customers thinking more sustainably by installing composting programs and bargain bins for unflattering foods.

The Atwater and Jean-Talon markets in Montreal will now have communal composting bins for vendors to use, tossing any food that is on its way out. However, before hitting the composting bins, many fruit and vegetable vendors will have a “misfit market” for ugly foods that can be purchased at a cheaper price.
