Consumption of Recovered Paper Drops in August

Consumption of recovered paper by U.S. industries declined by 1 percent in August when compared with the preceding month, according to statistics recently released by the American Forest & Paper Association. Still, consumption was 14 percent higher than in August 2009.

During the first eight months of 2010, U.S. businesses consumed 9 percent more recovered paper than during the same period in 2009.

Also, year-to-date exports of recovered paper are down 2 percent when compared with the same timeframe in 2009.
