Covanta to Oversee Expansion of Honolulu WTE Plant

Through a subsidiary, Covanta Holding Corp. will design and build a $302 million expansion of the H-POWER Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant in Honolulu. The project will expand the plant’s capacity by 900 tons per day, or 40 percent.

Completion of the expansion is expected in about three year. Honolulu, which will fund the expansion, owns the facility. Covanta Honolulu Resource Recovery Venture operates it.
