EPA Delays Decision on Coal Ash Disposal

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has delayed a pending decision on the regulation of coal ash disposal. Coal ash is the byproduct of the combustion of coal at power plants.

The decision on any new regulations had been expected by the end of 2009, but the agency says it will need more time “due to the complexity of the analysis the agency is currently finishing.”
