AMCS Launches AMCS Platform Summer Release at WasteExpo
AMCS announced the AMCS Platform Summer Release showcasing their latest solutions for Smart Collection, Smart Recycling and Smart (Customer) Engagement at WasteExpo in Las Vegas, June 29-30th. Among the key highlights of the AMCS Platform release is its embedded Transport Management System (TMS) and the launch of a new data-rich Telematics Service for waste haulers.
The new AMCS Telematics service is designed to capture rich tracking and telematics data (driver behavior, engine performance, fuel usage) combined with the route details to provide planners with full visibility via an intuitive, data-rich dashboard.
Of the new innovations spotlighted at AMCS’s Booth #1675, the Transport Management System is designed to automate all aspects of transport from resource and roster management, planning, execution, live monitoring, route optimization and analytics. The process is enhanced by a modern browser-based user experience which is designed to boost planning productivity through ease of use and automation of frequent planning tasks removing need for complex integrations between different systems and vendors.
AMP Robotics Achieves Data Milestones and Recycling Automation Breakthrough
At WasteExpo 2021 in Las Vegas, AMP Robotics Corp. (“AMP”) announced key company milestones executing against its plan to sustainably improve and scale the recovery of recyclables. These achievements coincide with the company’s ongoing market expansion and continued innovation cycle to modernize the domestic and global recycling system.
A lack of data transparency, reliability, and consistency on the performance of material recovery has been a longstanding obstacle to recycling modernization. Data is the foundation of the company’s AI platform, AMP Neuron™, whose artificial neural network has created the largest known real-world dataset of recyclable materials for machine learning. With the power of this data, AMP has achieved two milestones:
The company can now classify more than 100 different categories and characteristics of recyclables across single-stream recycling, e-scrap, and construction and demolition debris.
AMP has extended its object recognition run rate to more than 10 billion items annually. This combination of scalable accuracy and classification creates a step-level solution for data collection and measurement that materials recovery facilities can use to optimize their operations; reclaimers, mills, and manufacturers can use to validate that incoming feedstock meets specifications and standards for chemically compliant bales; and brand owners and government stakeholders can use to measure the quality, flow, and recovery of recyclable materials.

New York City Department of Sanitation to Purchase Seven Mack LR Electric models
Mack Trucks announced today that the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) plans to purchase seven Mack® LR Electric refuse models, which will operate in each of the city's boroughs. Mack made the announcement during WasteExpo 2021, June 28-30 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
DSNY took delivery of its first fully electric refuse vehicle, a Mack LR Electric demonstration model, in September 2020, when it began rigorous real-world testing in Brooklyn. Since then, DSNY has been evaluating payload capacity, regenerative braking, overall vehicle performance in their demanding operations, operating range and charging requirements.
"The DSNY order for an additional seven Mack LR Electric trucks speaks to the fact that the performance of the current LR Electric demonstrator model collecting in Brooklyn is meeting and even exceeding their expectations," said Jonathan Randall, Mack Trucks senior vice president of sales and commercial operations. "Mack has long been the number one choice of refuse customers, and we are now well-positioned to be the industry leader in e-mobility as well. The Mack LR Electric is equipped with Mack's integrated electric powertrain and will help New York City and DSNY achieve its zero-emissions goals."
The world's largest municipal sanitation department, DSNY collects about 12,000 tons of refuse and recyclables daily with more than 6,000 vehicles, the majority of which are Mack trucks.
The show floor opens at 10 a.m. PT and closes at 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, June 30. Stay tuned to Waste360.com for more news.
