Veolia Acquires Divested Republic Assets in Kentucky
August 3, 2009
Milwaukee-based Veolia ES Solid Waste has acquired assets in Kentucky that Phoenix-based Republic Services was required to sell because of the firm’s merger with Allied Waste. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The assets include five commercial collection routes in the Lexington, Ky., area. The waste collected on these routes will be disposed of at Veolia ES Morehead Landfill in Rowan County, Ky. Veolia estimates that the acquired assets will generate about $2.2 million in annual revenue.
“The acquisition of these assets is consistent with our strategic plan of acquiring operations that can synergize with existing collection operations and provide new disposal volume for our existing landfills,” said Jim Long, president and CEO of Veolia ES Solid Waste, in a press release.
