Waste Management’s Eagle Valley Landfill in Oakland County, Mich., will supply 3 megawatts of electricity to the Detroit Edison electrical utility. WM Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Waste Management, has signed a 20-year contract with the utility and will supply the power once construction of landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) facility adjacent to the Eagle Valley site is complete.

Completion of the LFGTE facility is slated for the end of 2011.
