WCA Waste Posts Net Loss While Its Revenues Rise

Houston-based WCA Waste Corp. posted a net loss of $355,000 on $59.3 million in revenue during third-quarter 2010. During the same period in 2009, the firm posted a net loss of $250,000 on $49.5 million in revenue.
For the first nine months of this year, WCA Waste Corp. posted a net loss of $2 million on $171.9 million in revenue. During the same period in 2009, the firm posted a net loss of $969,000 on $147.9 million in revenue.
WCA Waste also announced in its earnings report that it has recently completed four tuck-in acquisitions that the company says will add roughly $7 million in annual revenue.
“We are very pleased by the strength of core solid waste pricing in the small container and MSW landfill markets,” said Tom Fatjo, chairman and CEO of WCA Waste, in a press release. “Our focus remains on driving growth in our Houston and Ohio markets and maximizing the operating leverage of these assets while creating value for shareholders.”
