Residential Carts Get a Boost

Ameri-Kart

The Versa-Kart from Ameri-Kart Corp., Goddard, Kan., is available in 35-, 60- and 90-gallon capacities. Used in municipal and industrial recycling and waste collection, the carts are made from linear, medium-density, ultraviolet (UV)-stabilized polyethylene.

Cascade Cart

Cascade Cart, Grand Rapids, Mich., offers carts, recycling bins and commercial containers made from injection-molded plastic. Roll-out carts are available in 35-, 64- and 96-gallon capacities, and are designed to collect refuse, recyclables and yard waste, as well as co-collect recyclables and refuse. Cascade also offers 5-, 14-, 18- and 21-gallon curbside/office recycling bins; and 2-yard commercial containers.

IPL Products

IPL Products Ltd., Northboro, Mass., offers carts and containers made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material. Wheeled carts are available in 65- and 95-gallon sizes, and recycling containers are available in 12.3- and 17.2-gallon sizes. All carts and containers are available in a variety of colors and can be hot-stamped with a company's logo. The company also manufactures office and deskside containers.

Otto

The OTTO MSD cart series from Otto Industries Inc., Charlotte, N.C., includes carts and accessories for refuse and recyclable material collection programs and lifting systems. The MSD carts are available in 32-, 68- and 95-gallon capacities, and can be picked up by semi- and fully automated lifting systems, the company says. The 32-gallon cart can hold up to 150 pounds; the 68-gallon cart can hold up to 238 pounds; and the 95-gallon cart can hold up to 335 pounds. Features include a one-piece, water-tight lid; blow-molded, snap-on wheels with axle spacers; a steel lower bar; an upper lift pocket; and a dual-reinforced wear strip to prevent wear on the bottom of the cart.

Plastic Omnium Zarn

Plastic Omnium Zarn Inc., Reidsville, N.C., manufactures the CityCart line of solid waste and recycling curbside carts made from HDPE material. The CityCart 3390R 95-gallon cart is a universal cart container that can be used with semi- and fully automated systems. Features include a lower rotating steel bar, a 270-degree opening lid and a molded upper plastic bar for semi-automated systems. Flex and “bounce-back” features are included in the fully automated system, the company says. The company also offers the CityCart 3390U 90-gallon universal cart and the CityCart 3190 90-gallon semi-automated cart that hold up to 315 pounds each.

Rehrig Pacific

Rehrig Pacific Co., Los Angeles, manufactures a product line for curbside collection. The line includes 20-, 35-, 65- and 95-gallon curbside recycling bins, designed for semi- and fully automated collection systems. The company also offers cart options for yard waste, which includes vents and false bottoms for ventilation, odor reduction and air circulation; recycling; and divided co-collection.

Roto Industries

The Hauler Cart series from Roto Industries Inc., Anaheim, Calif., consists of carts with capacities of 35, 60, 70, 90, 100 and 300 gallons for semi- and fully automated collection systems. The company also manufactures plastic lids for front- and rear-load containers, plastic bin liners and plastic bottoms.

Rotonics Manufacturing

Rotonics Manufacturing Inc. (RMI), Gardena, Calif., offers plastic roto-molded residential refuse containers available in sizes from 40 gallons to 450 gallons, and specializes in 200-gallon, 300-gallon and 450-gallon containers. Larger containers have bolted-hinge, 110-degree, three-quarter lids designed for hands-free loading and discharging, the company says.

Schaefer Systems

Schaefer Systems International Inc., Charlotte, N.C., offers Universal System Design (USD) carts, available in 35-, 65- and 95-gallon capacities for recycling and waste disposal programs. Automated grabbers on the carts work with both standard barlock lifters and comb lifters, the company says. The USD35 is 35.8 inches high, 22.75 inches wide and 22.35 inches deep. The USD65 is 39.5 inches high, 26 inches wide and 26.8 inches deep. The USD95 is 46.5 inches high, 28 inches wide and 30.5 inches deep. All carts are injection-molded.

Toter

Toter Inc., Statesville, N.C., offers the Universal Cart, the EVR cart series and recycling containers. The Universal Cart has a textured surface designed to resist scratches and stress cracks, and it works with semi- and fully automated lifters, according to the company. Both the Universal Cart and the EVR series carts are made with rotational molding technology. EVR carts can be converted into co-collection carts with the addition of double-walled rotationally molded dividers and lids, the company says. The company's ventilated yard waste containers for recycling are designed to reduce odors, inhibit anaerobic decomposition, and reduce the volume and weight of the contents.

Tri State Rotational Products

Tri State Rotational Products, Hudson, Ill., offers a 90-gallon cart for semi- and fully automatic systems. The cart comes in red, green and black.

UltraCart

UltraCart Inc., Harborcreek, Pa., offers a 35-, 65- and 95-gallon cart family. Users can grab the front bar when attaching the cart to the lifter truck, the company says. All carts come with a 15-year warranty against cracking, shattering, material and workmanship. UltraCart also offers the UltraWheel, a 10-inch blow-molded wheel that is attached to the axle with a palnut and has a spacer built into the wheel.
