San Bernardino County Approves Landfill Solar Array

A 10-megawatt solar farm is going to spring up out of unused desert land destined for landfill expansion, following unanimous approval by the county’s Planning Commission.

The solar farm at the Victorville Sanitary Landfill, off of Stoddard Wells Road and west of Interstate 15, will occupy almost 58 acres within a 90-acre planned expansion to the landfill’s southwest.

The project was approved on a 4-0 vote, with the 1st District seat temporarily vacant. The item was considered non-controversial.
