Al Ramooz National LLC has chosen Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) to build two mixed solid waste processing facilities in Oman. The 220 ton-per-day and 150-ton-per-day systems, which are slated to startup in 2017, will treat mixed solid waste from both Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi.

“These two systems are an investment in the long-term sustainability of Oman,” said Al Ramooz National LLC Chairman Ali Saleh Al Sahib, in a press release. “BHS offered the most advanced and complete system to help us reach our goals; and we are especially excited to bring such a high level of technology to our process. We were able to collaborate on creative layouts to immediately maximize our recovery and value from the waste stream while simultaneously building in the flexibility to expand our processing capabilities in the future.”

Currently, the French company Veolia and Al Ramooz have a seven-year waste management contract with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company, which includes the collection, transportation and landfilling for 250,000 residents. To maximize recovery and product quality, Al Ramooz utilizes BHS’ patented mixed solid waste process, which combines screen, air and separation technologies to capture recyclable commodities and to produce fuel.

“With these advanced systems, Al Ramooz has demonstrated environmental leadership and a commitment to material diversion from landfill in Oman,” said Bulk Handling Systems CEO Steve Miller in a press release. “Their leadership team was very transparent that the goal here is to recover recyclable commodities first and foremost and the technology is in place to do just that.”
