Lytx Announces Driver of the Year Winners

Lytx, the San Diego, Calif.-based telematics company, announced its annual Driver of the Year awards across six commercial driving categories. In the waste category, Eduardo “Eddie” Gutierrez-Salazar of Waste Connections was awarded first place.

“Rewarding and celebrating successful drivers and coaches who have prioritized safety is an important part of the DriveCam program,” said Del Lisk, vice president of safety services at Lytx, in a statement. “Lytx’s ultimate goal is to create safer roads for all who use them, and drivers who share in this aspiration are essential for us to enact true change. We’re proud to recognize these professionals who have gone above and beyond to build a culture of safety and respect within the communities they serve.”

Gutierrez-Salazar has worked for Waste Connections in Denver, Colo., for 23 years. He was named Waste Connections Central Region Driver of the Year in 2017.

The annual award is designed to honor drivers across the country using the Lytx DriveCam program. George Blofeld of Waste Management, Inc. came in second place in the waste category, and Bobby Southerland of Waste Industries USA, Inc. came in third.
