Waste Management has made CDP’s 2016 Climate A List, which recognizes global companies that have been identified as leading in their efforts and actions to combat climate change in the past CDP reporting year. Additionally, Waste Management is part of the 9 percent that were awarded with an “A” grade for performance.

“At Waste Management, environmental stewardship is inextricably linked to our business performance and we’re honored by this prestigious recognition,” said David P. Steiner, chief executive officer of Waste Management, in a press release. “We know the work we do on our customers’ behalf to protect the environment makes a big difference for our planet and our transparency regarding the company’s economic, environmental and social performance illustrates our ongoing commitment to sustainable business operations.”

While Waste Management has been included in various CDP survey results since 2004, this is the first year that the company has landed a spot in CDP’s Climate A List. The list is part of CDP’s “Out of the starting blocks: Tracking progress on corporate climate action” report, which establishes the baseline for corporate climate change.
