Calgary is unlikely to meet its waste-reduction targets by 2020, according to a new report that finds city residents and businesses continue to throw away lots of things that don’t need to end up in landfills.
Current projections suggest the city will fall short of its goal of diverting 80 percent of waste from landfills by the year 2020.
Waste diversion is now expected to reach “a minimum of 60 percent” according to the report, which will be presented to city councillors this week.
