Clayton County, Ga., is backtracking on a large fee increase for its landfill in Lovejoy.

The Clayton News-Daily has more:

The Solid Waste Management Authority, which oversees the landfill, readjusted the prices Thursday for the landfill to $75 per ton over a ton and $40 for less than a ton of waste.

The prices will be effective July 18 and will last six months as a trial.

The landfill will be open for Clayton County residents and businesses only.

“At the end of the day, we have to increase the lifespan of the landfill,” said Jeff Turner, who is the chairman of the Board of Commissioners and also serves as chairman of the Solid Waste Management Authority.
