More than 50 firefighters battled a large fire at a recycling center in South LA Thursday.
The fire — reported just after 5:20 p.m. — burned at 1981 W. Slauson Avenue.
Large plumes of smoke were visible for miles. Around 6:10 p.m. the blaze was almost completely out. The black smoke gave way to white smoke which firefighters consider a good sign.
