Indiana Workers Affected by Recycler Shutting Down

The closing of a Chicago-based scrap metal company will affect more than a dozen South Bend workers. In a notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Pure Metal Recycling LLC says it plans to cease operations at seven locations in Illinois and Indiana.

Last year, the company announced its new name, Pure Metal Recycling, after longtime Acme Refining owner Larry Baron retired and sold the business to Chris Dandrow. Dandrow is the company's chief executive officer.
