Kent County, Mich., Issues RFI for Sustainable Business Park

The Kent County, Mich., Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced that it has issued a Request For Information (RFI) regarding a potential Sustainable Business Park on 200 acres next to the South Kent Landfill in Byron Center, Mich.

“We set a bold goal of diverting 90 percent of trash from the South Kent Landfill by 2030, and building the Sustainable Business Park is essential to reaching that goal,” said Dar Baas, director of the Kent County Department of Public Works, in a statement. “We are sending a Request for Information to organizations, businesses, technology developers, startups and nonprofits across the country to inform our Master Plan and continue progress toward our economic and environmental goals and advance our vision for a Circular Economy.”

The RFI is a preliminary step in identifying businesses and other companies that would consider being tenants in the business park, as well as companies that might be interested in a role in developing the park itself.

The deadline for responding is April 26, and a teleconference is scheduled for March 28 to ask questions about the project and tour existing facilities as well as the site of the future park.
