The second option, suggested by Alderman Joe Masi, is to consider how much it would cost to privatize the city’s sanitation services.

Proposals by private waste management haulers to possibly privatize sanitation pickup in the city will be opened Thursday afternoon at City Hall.
City officials are weighing two options on how to handle the city's garbage and recycling services. Mayor Joe DeStefano has proposed investing $2.1 million to streamline services and cut the workforce.
