Non-Profit Recycling Center in Downtown Austin Closes

After nearly two decades of operation, a non-profit recycling center in downtown Austin is closing up shop. Some have called it an eye-sore sitting on the edge of the city's downtown corridor. But its mission has always been to help the city reach its goal of zero waste. Its closure is another sign of a changing Austin. 

Austin had been reimbursing the Ecology Action Texas for waste it diverted from landfills, but the city didn't renew its contract as it comes up with new ways to reach its goal of zero waste.
