Officials from Three Cities Seek Voice in Medina County, Ohio, Solid Waste Management

City officials from Medina, Brunswick and Wadsworth expressed frustration Wednesday over not having a strong voice in issues involving solid waste disposal and recycling in Medina County.

Medina City Council President John M. Coyne III arranged a public meeting yesterday among mayors, council representatives, city service directors and county officials at City Hall. He said the cities want more say in the county's solid waste management plan.

The Medina County Solid Waste District is nearing the end of a 21-month process to update that plan, which determines how the county deals with its garbage. The state-mandated district must follow stringent state rules and answer to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
