Ohio Recycling Center Fire Business Had Previous Safety Violations

While firefighters continue to monitor the aftermath of Friday’s fire, questions remains about how this fire started and if anything could have been done to prevent the size of the flames.

Firefighters said it is crucial for them to have clear paths for trucks to get past piles of flammable materials and they’re still inspecting whether those paths existed at the time of Friday’s blaze.

"We need at least 20 feet minimum to get trucks through and around the complex. They can have stockpiled materials all around as long as we can make access and get around the facility," Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Tracy Smith said.
