One Killed, One Injured in S.C. Recycling Business Fire

A veteran OmniSource worker died after a pile of scrap metal caught fire at the Anderson metal recycling center on Gossett Street in Anderson.

Dean Gochneaur, a 49-year-old from Pickens, had been working for the company for about 15 years, although not all at the Anderson location, said Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore.

Gochneaur was working on a piece of machinery when the fire started and grew out of control, Shore said.
