Ponderosa Landfill Undergoes $2.2M Project to Simplify Trash Disposal
Ponderosa Landfill in Mankato, Minn., is currently undergoing a $2.2 million project to simplify trash disposal. The project features a new 18,000-square-foot facility, which includes office space and a designated area for customers to drive in and drop off their waste.
The designated area will help solve the issue of traffic and competition with large trucks, which is both a convenience and safety benefit for the customers and the landfill.
The new facility, which is slated to open in May, will also decrease the amount of waste going into the landfill.
NEYC News 12 has the details:
A $2.2 million project at Ponderosa Landfill is creating a new facility looking to make the dirty business of getting rid of garbage an easier task.
When the public comes to Ponderosa Landfill to drop off waste, they can often face traffic involving big competition.
Blue Earth County Environmental Services Director Scott Fichtner said, "The general public has been going down to the landfill and dropping their waste off and competing with the big trucks that go down there."
And that issue is part of the reason behind a new $2.2 million facility at Ponderosa.
