Republic Services Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

The company was recently named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices for the third consecutive year.

Republic Services was named to both the 2018 Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) World and North America Indices for the third consecutive year. The rankings highlight Republic's leadership in corporate governance, environmental, social and financial sustainability.

"Republic Services is truly honored to be recognized on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third year in a row. This accomplishment continues to serve as a benchmark to measure the progress we are making toward our sustainability goals," said Donald W. Slager, president and CEO of Republic Services, in a statement. "It's a privilege to serve more than 14 million customers across the country every day. We are deeply committed to our leadership role in protecting the planet while making Republic a great place to work for our employees and creating long-term value for our shareholders."

Notably, Republic Services received the top score in the corporate governance, materiality (stakeholder engagement) and talent attraction and retention categories.

In addition, Republic Services is recognized on Barron's 100 Most Sustainable Companies list, awarded the Gold Class Award in the RobecoSAM's Sustainability Yearbook and named to the Ethisphere Institute's World's Most Ethical Companies list for the second year in a row.
