Waste Connections, Inc. announced that Ronald J. Mittelstaedt, chairman and CEO of Waste Connections, will take a temporary leave of absence to address health matters affecting him and his family.

Until Mittelstaedt returns to work, Worthing F. Jackman, president of Waste Connections, will assume the duties and responsibilities of the company’s principal executive officer. Michael W. Harlan, the company’s lead independent director, will preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors until Mittelstaedt returns.

This news comes shortly after Waste Connections released its 2018 fourth quarter and year-end earnings. Mittelstaedt was absent from the earnings call due to a family emergency.
