Waste Industries USA Inc. has named Greg Yorston chief operating officer.

Yorston will direct company operations across the southeast United States and manage all non-accounting processes and procedures for all Waste Industries branches, the Raleigh, N.C.-based company said in a news release.

Yorston formerly was senior vice president of operations at Waste Industries. He worked closely in the past year with former chief operating officer Harry Habets, who retired Dec. 31.

Habets will remain involved with the company as a special projects advisor to the company's CEO, Ven Poole.

"Greg brings a wide array of skills and expertise to the executive team and is a perfect fit to build upon the operational excellence Waste Industries is known for. His 27 years of experience within the waste industry is broad and deep," Poole said.
