Waste Management Dumps its 29 Homes in Eco-Subdivision

All 29 houses that Waste ManagementĀ put up for sale this springĀ in the Prairie Crossing subdivision in Grayslake are sold or under contract, a company executive said.

Waste Management contracted to sell 10 of the homes to individual buyers in advance of a June 9 auction by Sheldon Good & Co. that was scheduled to sell the group in bulk, said Anne Fridrych, the company's senior manager for corporate real estate. The remaining 19 are under contract to the winning bidder at the auction, she said, although she said she would not identify the buyer before the closing, scheduled for mid-July.

"It's a privately held local real estate investment group," Fridrych said, "and they're going to ramp it up. They're putting in upgrades that we weren't going to do." The plans include remodeling kitchens and baths and putting in new carpet, she said.
