Waste and recycling firm Western Elite has purchased the waste management division of Par 3 Landscaping & Maintenance, bolstering the company’s position in the southern Nevada market.

The Las Vegas-based company, locally owned and family operated, claims to be southern Nevada’s second largest waste management and recycling company.

"We have worked with Par 3 for several years, and as our customer demands increased, it was a very natural next step for both of our companies for Western Elite to acquire the waste management side of Par 3's company,” said Ryan Williams, Western Elite CEO, in a news release. “This change will allow both companies to focus on what they do best."

The acquisition from Par 3, also located in Las Vegas, was for an undisclosed amount.

Western Elite has been expanding its waste and recycling business recently. The company operates two material recovery facilities (MRFs) in the region. It is now affiliated with the Western Elite landfill.

The company services more than 27,000 large roll-off containers and more than 24,000 front-load containers annually. At one MRF, covering 20,000 square feet, residential, commercial and recycling customers can drop off construction and green waste. Western Elite provides several dumpster size options, including front-load recycling services for businesses throughout Clark County.

"We have been growing rapidly across the Las Vegas valley to meet increasing customer demands for great service in the recycling and waste industry. We continue to search for innovative business expansion ideas, and we anticipate more announcements in the future," Williams said.

The big player in the Las Vegas market is Phoenix-based Republic Services Inc. One its more recent moves it announced last fall was the construction of a news recycling facility that will double residential recycling capacity in southern Nevada.

Republic Silver State Disposal Inc. is building a 110,000-sq.-ft. recycling facility in North Las Vegas next to an existing 88,000-sq.-ft. unit.

The increased capacity will make the Southern Nevada Recycling Complex the largest recycling facility in the United States, Republic has said. It expects to begin operations this fall.
