American Waste Wins Recycling Contract for Tulsa

American Waste Control Inc. has been awarded the exclusive recycling contract for Tulsa, Okla.

The Tulsa-based waste company said in a news release that it won the recycling contract, a waste-to-energy contract went to Covanta Holding Corp. and the collection agreement still is pending. Tulsa officials were not immediately available to identify the disposal contract winner. The city’s population is close to 400,000.

American Waste said up to six waste companies were vying for a 10-year contract worth a total of more than $150 million.

American Waste says it’s prepared to begin expanding recycling operations for Tulsa.

American Waste is the parent company of Tulsa Recycle and Transfer (TRT), the city’s largest and only permitted hybrid materials recovery facility, which can process and reclaim more than 80 tons of recyclables per day.

“We’re proud we were chosen for this prestigious contract as the best company to lead the charge in providing for a cleaner environment for our city,” said American Waste CEO Tom Hill.
