Armed and Ready to Recycle

Recycling and surrendering weapons both can be positive actions — just not when done in conjunction with each other. In Charleston County, S.C., an unidentified resident eager to get rid of his or her firearms and ammunition disposed of them in a recycling container. The potentially dangerous items then reappeared at a recycling plant where workers sort recyclables by hand. While two guns weren't loaded, one contained bullets.
No one was injured, and police officers arrived on the scene to seize the items. In addition, the county asked that residents find other ways to relieve themselves of lethal supplies — a pawn shop, perhaps. And you thought broken glass could be dangerous.
