The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency could be taking its recycling program on the road.
The agency has solicited bids from private contractors to process and market all residential and commercial recyclable materials that it receives from the city of Santa Fe, Santa Fe County and surrounding communities. Three Albuquerque-based companies have indicated they will respond to the agency’s request for proposals by Friday’s deadline.
In its request, the agency said it wants the winning bidder to accept an expanded list of recyclable materials — a move designed to increase recycling rates that are well below state and national levels.
