Clarios International Selected for Possible Funding to Build Battery Recycling Facility in South Carolina

Clarios International, a Glendale, Wis. automotive battery giant, has been selected for a possible federal grant to create a lithium-ion battery recycling facility in South Carolina.

Clarios International, a Glendale, Wis. automotive battery giant, has been selected for a possible federal grant to create a lithium-ion battery recycling facility in South Carolina.

The federal grant, for a possible $150 million, will go to building the facility which will create over 375 jobs. The U.S. Department of Energy is looking to fund over $3 billion in 25 projects across 14 states to boost the domestic production of advanced batteries and battery materials.

By selecting Clarios, the DOE explains that it means the company is eligible for “award negotiations” and that the designation is not a commitment to issue an award.
