Daphne, Ala. is going to endure 2024 without curbside recycling as construction of the city’s new recycling center needs more time.
The latest delay for Daphne ensures residents will be without curbside recycling until at least 2025. Construction of the new recycling facility is said to be behind schedule, causing another year-long delay.
“We now know that it’s going to be 2025 for sure, we are not sure if it’s January, February, or March or if it’s spring, but we are excited to say that come 2025 we will welcome back our curbside recycling,” Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune said.
Back in 2019, a recycling truck caught fire which caused the recycling facility to burn down, thus leaving residents without a curbside recycling service. Currently, residents must drive their recycling to a drop-off location.
